Nancy leads the efforts in Deaf Education in Rhode Island. RI School for the Deaf is a state school and and an LEA agency responsible for building capacity to educate deaf and hard of hearing students wherever they learn in Little Rhody. Serving students birth to age 22 years from Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut, Rhode Island School for the Deaf has 60 employees. Nancy serves on the RI EHDI Board and chairs a committee on Education for the RI Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Nancy has been an educator for 47 years, 39 as an administrator. She worked with DeafBlind youngsters for several years at Perkins School for the Blind, spending almost 20 years at The Learning Center for the Deaf in Massachusetts where she established and directed the Randolph Campus, a second TLC campus in the Boston area, 8 years at a Massachusetts Community College overseeing a Literacy program for adults who are Deaf but who never learned to read, and 11 years at RISD as Director. She is retiring this year in July.
