Tawny Holmes Hlibok, Esq. is a faculty member in Deaf Studies at Gallaudet University and also serves as the Language Planning and Policy Counsel for the newly established office of the Chief Bilingual Officer. She is a third-generation Deaf person that brings her heritage to her policy and advocacy work. She graduated from Gallaudet University with BA degrees in Deaf Studies and Sociology along with a MA degree in Deaf Education. Tawny then went on to the University of Baltimore law school where she received her juris doctorate with a concentration in family law. She has practiced law and advocacy services for families and DHH students the past fifteen years.
